A few types do not produce pseudobulbs. In this post I describe what a monopodial orchid plant is, and a few simple tips to help propagate these types of orchids!
Flowers and leaves appear on a single stem, and as this stem grows it may produce a succession of blooms for many years. Cut off the leafy top of the stem in the spring and use as a cutting if the plant has grown too tall; the cut stem of the mother plant will in time form a new head with leaves and flowers. This, of course, means a loss of flowering seasons, and so it is preferable to look for rooted offsets at the base and use as planting material.
